What is Literacy?

Literacy is more than just reading and writing — it's the ability to understand, communicate, and make meaning through language. Strong literacy skills include reading comprehension, writing clearly and effectively, building vocabulary, listening and speaking, and thinking critically. At The Literacy Lab, we help students grow in all of these areas so they can feel confident across all subjects and thrive in school and beyond.

DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

The Literacy Laboratory is an independently owned and operated academic tutoring service. I am not affiliated with any official test preparation company (e.g., College Board, ACT, etc.) or college admissions organization.

While I strive to provide high-quality, research-based instruction and personalized support, I cannot guarantee specific outcomes, such as test scores, grade increases, or college admissions decisions. Success depends on a variety of factors, including student effort, consistency, and external evaluation criteria.

My goal is to build confidence, critical thinking, and literacy skills that support long-term academic success—inside and outside the classroom.
