Hi there, I'm so glad you're here!
Welcome to the Literacy Laboratory!

I'm Rachel, a Southern California native and lifelong learner who grew up in the local public school system. I’ve seen firsthand how strong reading and writing skills can change a student’s path—and I’ve built my career around helping students develop those essential tools.

I hold a master’s degree in Reading, Language, and Literacy, along with a secondary education teaching credential and undergraduate degree—all earned through California State Universities.
For years, I’ve worked as a secondary English Language Arts teacher, and I’ve helped hundreds of students grow their confidence and skills in reading, writing, and communication.

At Rachel’s Lit Lab, I offer personalized tutoring that meets students where they are and challenges them to reach new heights.
Just like in a lab, we experiment, analyze, and discover the strategies that work best for each learner. My mission is simple: to help students become strong, independent readers and writers—ready to succeed not just in school, but in life.
Specialized Support for Struggling Readers using
Orton-Gillingham
If your child has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia or another reading challenge, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I offer personalized, trauma-informed tutoring designed to build skills and confidence in a safe, supportive environment.

With training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and a deep understanding of morphology and how words work, I help students make real, meaningful progress in reading. I also support parents in understanding the "why" behind their child's learning needs and how to advocate for them with confidence.

Let’s create a learning plan that meets your child exactly where they are—and celebrates how far they can go.
